A cowrie-shell armband, traditionally worn on the upper arm or just above the elbow. Cut and pierced cowrie shells, half ana coins, wool and cotton binding. Mid 20th century. Most likely from the Muria tribe, Bastar District, Orissa Provence. A surprisingly wearable piece given it's easy self-closing fastening, but definitely also one for collectors - these pieces only very rarely come onto the market for sale.
Measurements: Total llength of armband 24 cm, length of dangles approx 16 cm
